The parts you receive should be hard and fully cured. In the unlikely event you observe any liquid in or on a model, or it is very soft or bendy, it is possible that there is uncured material that may be hazardous. Please do not touch this material, and wash your hands and any contaminated clothing or surfaces immediately. The parts in question should be left in the closed plastic bag they were shipped to you in, along with any other parts they came in the same bag with. Please contact us as soon as possible to arrange safe disposal and replacement.
All products may have small pieces of excess material, known as “gates” or “supports” left over from the manufacturing process. These can be removed from the model using a pair of small clippers or side cutters, please wear safety glasses to avoid the risk of injuring your eyes.
Do not sand or file any of the products, this may produce dust or small particles that could be hazardous if inhaled. The parts supplied are modular and design to fit together without further modification. If you choose to make modifications, you do so at your own risk, please ensure you are using appropriate personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses and at least a P3 rated respirator.
Do not heat any of the products, this may produce fumes that could be hazardous if inhaled, or burns to the skin due to hot and/or molten material.
For Polyurethane miniatures, the split moulds used will sometimes leave a faint line on the component, which can be carefully scraped off using a deflashing or deburring tool. Flashing is a thin film of resin which has leaked before curing, it can usually be brushed off using a small brush where it is still attached to the part. Please wear safety glasses to avoid the risk of injuring your eyes, and always use tools in a direction away from you.
Our products do not usually need to be washed before use if you are using a good-quality spray primer, but it is good practice just in case.
We use do not use mould release sprays, except in exceptional circumstances, as they are the most common cause of shiny, unpaintable resin parts. However, the production process occasionally leaves a film of silicone oil on the parts.
If your parts look at all shiny, we recommend you wash them to ensure best paint adhesion. You can wash your components in soapy water (warm, not hot!) and scrub them thoroughly with a toothbrush or similar.
Our high-quality polyurethane and photopolymers are durable, slightly flexible, and easy to work with using most hobby tools. It is not as strong as injection moulded plastic/metal so consider how you will store your miniatures.
At Anvil Industry, we use various modular joint systems, so parts are designed to join together in a nearly seamless fashion without further modification.
If you choose to use our parts with 3rd party miniatures, you may need to consider how they will fit together, and fill any gaps with appropriate modelling materials. If you choose to do this, you do so at your own risk. please ensure you are using appropriate personal protective equipment.
We recommend you “test fit” or "dry fit" assemble your miniatures with Blu-tack (or similar temporary adhesive putty), as this allows you to decide on poses and check all parts fit well with each other before gluing anything.
Once you’ve test-fitted everything, glue the parts with super glue (plastic solvent cement will not work). We recommend using a “2-5” second setting glue as this gives you a little time to ensure a perfect alignment. Wear disposable nitrile gloves to avoid getting super glue on your hands, and follow all safety information provided by the manufacturer.
To get the best results, we strongly recommend using Loc-Tite or a similar quality super glue brand with a precision applicator, or dispense a small amount into a suitable container, and use a thin applicator.
Use glue super glue sparingly, unlike poly cement, the less you use the better the result. You are aiming for a thin coat on one of the surfaces to be bonded. This way, a strong bond should be achieved within around 20 seconds of holding the parts together.
Our modular joint systems use a "peg and hole" attachment. This allows for simplified assembly with a degree of pose-ability.
Torsos fit on the waist peg and can be freely rotated to various angles.
Arms are the most difficult part of the assembly process. After deciding which arms to use with a particular torso, follow these steps to ensure the best result -
Heads should fit nicely into the torso ball joint if you ensure the bottom of the neck has had the resin 'gate' removed fully.
Equipment, such as mags, pouches, and weapon accessories can be attached.
Gap Filling - Modular Kits, even with the most careful assembly, will occasionally have small gaps where parts are joined together. They will often disappear on painting, but some people choose to use Green Stuff, Milliput or a similar filler to fill small gaps. Please follow all instructions from the manufacturers of these products carefully, Anvil Industry accepts no liability for their use.
As we do not use mould release spray (unless absolutely necessary) our miniatures and parts will usually take primer spray and paints with no problem at all. A good quality matt primer spray is recommend. As you are investing in premium quality resin models, get a premium quality spray paint to get a good coverage without obscuring the detail.
Please use appropriate respiratory protection (at least A2 rated), gloves and safety glasses when spray painting, in a well-ventilated space or a spray booth. Always consult the manufacturer of the paints you use for full safety information, Anvil Industry accepts no liability for their use, you use them at your own risk.
You can also hand undercoat with a brush or use an airbrush with very good results. Vallejo's™ "model air" range adheres excellently to resin. Hand undercoating takes longer but can sometimes get better results.
After priming, you can use any appropriate miniature paints and washes, consult the manufacturer of the paints for their suitability and safety information. Anvil Industry accepts no liability for their use, you use them at your own risk.
